Schools consider meal price hike -  City schools may be raising breakfast and lunch prices this fall.  The Winchester School Board on Tuesday discussed the potential price increases as a way to cover the costs of serving school meals.  As proposed, students in all seven city schools would pay 5 cents more for breakfast and 10 cents more for lunch.  The Director of Operations for Winchester Public Schools, said the increase s needed because of USDA requirements pertaining to the financial subsidies it offers schools to make sure students have access to nutritious meals.  The proposed price increases would only apply to students who pay full price for lunch.  Those who qualify for free or reduced-price meals would not be affected.  (This information taken from The Winchester Star article dated June 13, 2018)

Winchester Book Gallery Moving to 7 N. Loudoun Street Mall.  A longtime downtown business will soon relocate from its home of 44 years.  On August 1, the book store will open at this new and bigger location.  The added space is important, because Winchester Book Gallery hosts about 300 authors a year and the current store is required to rearrange its layout, but that won't be necessary in the new location,  Other positives - the new site will also be able to accommodate live music, meetings, game nights and book clubs more easily.  (This information was taken from The Winchester article on June 16, 2018.)
