Ribbon Cutting at the Maker Space @ the MSV
Join us as we celebrate the new makerspace at Winchester’s Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV)!
A makerspace is a community center that engages children, families, and adults in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through innovative, hands-on learning experiences.
Located on the first floor of the Museum, and much more than a make-and-take activity center, the MSV Makerspace will provide Shenandoah Valley residents a chance to apply problem-solving skills, test, and revise their ideas, experiment, collaborate, and have fun.
The new makerspace includes electric wheels for throwing pottery, a kiln for firing ceramics, robotics kits, and a 3D printer.
Opening to the public on Sunday, September 11, the MSV Makerspace will be open on Tuesdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child (up to age 18).
A regional cultural center and the largest green space in the City of Winchester, the MSV is anchored by a 50,000-square-foot museum with galleries, a reception hall, store, and the new makerspace. The site also includes the Glen Burnie House and seven acres of formal gardens. Additional details are available online at www.theMSV.org.
