Guest Service Representative

Red Roof Inn in Winchester, VA looking to hire a Full-time or Part-time Guest Service Representative (GSR). Hotel/Guest Service Experience Preferred.

Position Description:
The GSR is responsible for posting and balancing charges and settlements for each room, and maintaining files. This is a front desk staff position, responsible for welcoming guests and making sure that their experience is pleasant and memorable. Includes check-in, check-out, reservations assistance, guest assistance, telephone operating, cash handling, and anything else that may arise at a hotel front desk.

Hours would be as follows:

Morning shift 7am - 3pm / Day shift 3pm - 11pm

Requirements, Skills, & Responsibilities:

• Requires ability to stand for long periods of time; walking to a significant degree.
• Must be able to work weekends & most holidays, a minimum of 2-4 days a week.
• Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and members of the staff.
• Requires familiarity with applicable franchise front desk standards and procedures - on-site training will be provided.
• Must possess knowledge of hotel interdepartmental relationships, as well as all operations pertaining to front desk - on-site training will be provided.
• Must possess excellent public relations skills and ability to handle/resolve guest complaints.
• Must be able to multitask, stay focused, and work well under pressure.
• Must have the ability to provide exceptional customer service with a smile; you should enjoy dealing with and talking to people, and delivering great service.
• Must have excellent oral communication skills both in person and over the phone.
• The ideal candidate must have excellent proficiency of computer systems, problem solving and customer service
• Professional dress and appearance is mandatory, as is reliable transport and punctuality. Uniform shirts will be provided.

High school graduate or equivalent. Previous hotel front office experience preferred; however, ability gained through related employment (sales, resort, marketing), or on-the-job training may substitute for actual front office experience.
