Rose Hill Chamber Orchestra’s Debut Performance
Join us for the inaugural performance by the Rose Hill Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jon Goldberg. The Rose Hill Chamber Orchestra is composed of the finest professional musicians in the area. They specialize in an exciting repertoire that is seldom given professional performances because they call for forces that are too large for a string quartet or woodwind quintet, but too small to fit the programming of a full symphony orchestra. This concert features just this repertoire, opening with Mozart’s dramatic Symphony #25 in g minor, and then featuring local favorite, Glenn Caluda, performing Vivaldi’s ethereal Concerto for Guitar. The second half of the program is all rustic dance music, with Beethoven’s set of Twelve Contra Dances and Aaron Copland’s icon Appalchian Spring, in its original orchestration for 15 instruments. The Copland is full of dynamic vitality and colorful writing, building on the well known American folk song A Gift to Be Simple Doors open at 7:30 PM and show starts at 8:00 PM e free when accompanied by an adult
