Nathaniel Adams Coles was born in 1919 and known professionally as Nat King Cole. He first came into to prominence as a jazz pianist but most of his popular musical fame was due to his signature velvety soft baritone voice. He was one of the first black Americans to host a television variety show and maintained worldwide popularity since his death. The Eric Byrd Trio has performed throughout the world and they hold the prestigious honor of a Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassadorship. Through that program they have performed to capacity crowds in Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Honduras and Trinidad. Trio members Eric Byrd (piano) Alphonso Young, Jr. (drums) and Bhagwan Khalsa (bass) are energetic, masterful musicians of modern jazz.
