Changes for Bloomtown Derby and the Midway:  Schenck Foods has announced changes to the Bloomtown Derby and the Old Town Midway for the upcoming 91st Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.  The Bloomtown Derby will take place from 11a.m. to 1:30p.m. May 3 at its new location at the Trolley Event Zone at the James R. Wilkins Jr. Athletic and Events Center at Shenandoah University.  Changes to the Old Town Midway have been made as follows:  The event will be held from 10a.m. to 10p.m. May 4-5 and cover multiple blocks along Piccadilly Street, Fairfax Lane and North Loudoun Street.  (For more logistic and ticket information see The Winchester Star article dated March 30, 2018.

Official Voter Information for Clarke County  The Clark County Office of Elections Voter Registration and Absentee Voting's deadlines are in April and May.  For the date deadline for each contact Barbara Bosserman, Director of Elections at 540-955-5168 or email  vote@clarkecounty.gov.  (This information was taken from an article in The Winchester Star on March 30, 2018)

Trucks restriction on use of Reliance Road:  Permanent restriction on through trucks began on Tuesday. April 3, 2018 between Interstate 81 exit 302 in Middletown and US 340/522 (Winchester Road) in Warren County.  The restriction applies to through trucks that use Reliance Road as a shortcut.  It does not apply to trucks traveling to a specific destination on Reliance Road.  Truck drivers who need to get to US 340/522 can use Interstate 66 as an alternate route.  (For more information - see The Winchester Star article on March 31, 2018.)

Four museums in Winchester are now open for the season:  April brings the official start of the 2018 tourism season and the opening of museums managed by the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society.  George Washington's Office Museum, Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters Museum, Abram's Delight and the accompanying 18th century log cabin, and Hollingsworth Mill. City Dog Licenses are now on sale.  All Winchester dog owners must purchase tags for their pets by April 30, 2018.  Licenses are issued by the Treasurer's Office and cost $4 each for spayed or neutered dogs and $8 for dogs who have not been spayed or neutered.  Proof of rabies vaccinations must accompany all applications.   (For more information see The Winchester Star article on April 3, 2018.)
